Credit Reports Many for-profit companies advertise "free credit reports" only to lure consumers into expensive financial services memberships that claim to monitor their credit or protect them from identity theft. What's more, those memberships are often automatically renewed at the same high rate unless the consumer calls to cancel, a process that can be difficult and time consuming.
However, all consumers are entitled by law to a free credit report once per year from each of the three major reporting agencies. The link below is the only official site designated by the Federal Trade Commission through which all US consumers may order their credit reports free of charge. If you prefer to order your reports by phone, you may call 1-877-322-8228.
